Freshmen Melissa Orlando remembers scoring the winning goal for her high-school girls varsity soccer team.

Orlando scored the goal last week at her team’s game versus Vorhees within the last minute. The Warren Hills Regional High School Varsity girls soccer team advanced to the states.

"It was my first goal that I have ever scored," says Orlando. "I had the opportunity to score and I took it. It felt amazing."

Orlando is one of two freshmen on the varsity team made up of mostly seniors. This is also be Orlando's first appearance as a starting midfield at next week's game.

"I have gained so much respect from the upperclassmen on the team now," she said. "I will always remember my first goal and the impact it made on our team."
